There are situations where you need to share your computer with others but don't want them to spot or view contents within a particular folder. Lets see how we can do this without installing a software.

Here is the TRICK:

1) The idea is to make the folder icon look like a Recycle Bin or Control Panel. You can always revert it when you want it back.

Method:

1. Make A folder , put some contents in it (if you wish to)

2. Rename it "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
without the quotes to make it look like control panel

3. Double click on it

4. Voila you land into control panel

5. Try to access the same folder with total commander or via ftp client . you can easily view the contents

Extra Stuff:-

to make it look like other things try these :-

Quote:
Internet Explorer.{FBF23B42-E3F0-101B-8488-00AA003E56F8}
Recycle Bin.{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
My Computer.{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}
My Documents.{ECF03A32-103D-11d2-854D-006008059367}
Fonts.{BD84B380-8CA2-1069-AB1D-08000948F534}

Note:- You can change the name to anything
i mean it can be

MYFOLDER.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}

but still it will look like control panel
just make sure to keep the extension same

One good look :-
Look At the registry key
Code:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionexplorerDesktopNameSpace

It contains a set of folder extensions that you can use. Thank You.
